Zhao Chen fetched a blanket and spread it over the throne.
Charlotte drew herself in, curling her whole body into a ball.
The throne itself, one imagines, had never thought that the first use it was put to would be for such a business as this.
Zhao Chen walked to a porthole at one side of the hall, leaned against it, and looked at the stars of the universe outside.
Tomorrow would be the last day of 3036.
Ding!
With a notice-tone from the System,
Zhao Chen tapped open his System panel; there was a notice-box very conspicuous upon it.
【Quarterly mission
Mission content: take the Demon Castle star system
The mission is complete; the mission reward may be claimed】
By the look of it, the last small remnants of the Demon King's party within the Demon Castle star system had been swept utterly clean.
Zhao Chen's thought stirred.
Claim the mission reward.
【Congratulations: 5,000 task points obtained】
Zhao Chen knit his brows slightly. Only five thousand task points?
That was far from enough to exchange for those three great treasures.
【Annual mission · The Overthrow of the Demon Race
Mission content: destroy or bring under control the Demon Race
The mission is complete; the mission reward may be claimed】
At this moment the annual mission too was declared complete.
Without a word Zhao Chen claimed the mission reward.
【Annual mission reward obtained: 20,000 task points; the flagship-model T6 Demon Emperor Carrier Starship; the Demon-King-of-Emperors core module】
A true annual gift-package indeed: with these twenty thousand task points, and the five thousand before them.
It was enough to exchange for those four T6 technology goods.[1]
But this wave of the System's rewards was far from over.
Another notice-box was called up before Zhao Chen's eyes.
【Mission (The Machine Race's Secret)
First-stage mission: seek out the coordinate of the Mechanical Prophet. (Complete)
Second-stage mission: open a punitive expedition against the Mechanical Prophet, and destroy at least three hundred thousand of the Mechanical Prophet's interstellar fleets. (Complete)
Third-stage mission: prevent the Demon Race's invasion of the Machine Race. (Complete)
Fourth-stage mission: go to the Black Great-Wall Base. (Complete)
Fifth-stage mission: consent to the Machine Race's arrangement. (Complete)
(The Machine Race's Secret series mission) is complete; the mission reward may be claimed】
Zhao Chen looked at this mission box that had sprung open all of a sudden.
He was taken aback a moment.
Good grief, he had all but forgotten there was such a series mission.
This Machine Race's Secret had in truth gone only as far as the third stage before.
But after the Demon Race's invasion was beaten back, it had not shown as complete.
Not until now, when the whole territory of the Demon Race had been utterly taken,
did it show this mission complete, and refresh the fourth and fifth stages besides.
But he had not thought that these several missions Zhao Chen had long since completed.
It was as though Zhao Chen were playing a game and had at one stroke finished several missions at once, and gladly taken up the rewards.
It could hardly be more satisfying.
Zhao Chen's thought stirred, and he claimed the reward of this series mission that had run above a year.
【Congratulations, mission reward obtained: 20,000 task points; the T6 Gluttonous Demon King Starship; the Gluttony module; the T6 Supernova Ultimate Bomb】
Zhao Chen looked at the four mission rewards that had appeared at a stroke.
For the moment he did not know which to look at first.
Task points were ample now: forty-five thousand of them in all.
It gave Zhao Chen the feeling of one who has just drawn his wages, and a fine feeling it was!
As for this series of mission rewards, they were more remarkable still; the names alone told that they were no common articles.
【Flagship-model T6 Demon Emperor Carrier Starship】
【Demon-King-of-Emperors core module】
【Flagship-model T6 Gluttonous Demon King Starship】
【Gluttony core module】
【T6 Supernova Ultimate Bomb】
Two of them, the core modules, should be the matching rewards for the flagship-model starships before them.
So in fact there were only three mission rewards.
Zhao Chen looked at the first flagship-model interstellar warship.
The T6 Demon Emperor Carrier Starship.
The flagship-model warships of this same kind before it were the Hades-class Interstellar Dreadnought and the Dragon Emperor Interstellar Command Ship.
Their mark is that they can be built only upon the core module the System gives, and that each is the one ship of its kind.
And this T6 Demon Emperor Carrier Starship.
Reading the introduction alone, Zhao Chen was near to not taking it in.
First, she is a carrier starship, so her way of fighting is naturally to send forth interstellar drones and interstellar fighters or interstellar bombers.
And what this Demon Emperor Carrier Starship carries are named the Ghoul Dragon, the Terror Banshee, and the Lich Emperor.
By the names alone Zhao Chen truly did not know what these three things were.
But after reading the account of their functions, it was plain at a glance.
The Ghoul Dragon and the Terror Banshee amount to two models of interstellar fighter; the former lays its weight upon frontal firepower and upon meeting force with force outright, somewhat after the fashion of the hive-race.
The Terror Banshee is an energy-type interstellar fighter, laying its weight upon attacking energy star-shields, and exceedingly effective at it.
The Lich Emperor is something after the manner of an interstellar bomber, able to loose a chained energy shell that can leap without cease from target to target.
And all three of these fighting units are biological combat units.
Within the T6 Demon Emperor Carrier Starship there are cultivation chambers set apart, able to grow these three combat units — Ghoul Dragon, Terror Banshee and Lich Emperor — outright.
And this can be done even in a state of battle.
Which is to say that so long as this carrier starship is not destroyed, she can supply these combat units without cease, much as a Hive Mothership does.
She is simply a super carrier starship!
"Su Lan would suit this very well. Only I do not know whether she would like the style of the ship." Zhao Chen could not keep from laughing.
To picture Su Lan, that ever cold and lofty woman commander, directing combat units of this Demon sort upon an interstellar battlefield, it was hardly to be believed.
A Demon Empress?
As for the detailed data, Zhao Chen could know it clearly only after she was built.
If a flagship-model carrier starship such as this were so strong, how much worse could the other be?
Zhao Chen held down the excitement within him by force.
And looked at the other flagship-model, the T6 Gluttonous Demon King Starship.
This flagship starship was very particular, for the several ships before her had at the least been marked with what type of interstellar warship they were.
The Dragon Emperor, for instance, is an Interstellar Command Ship; the Demon Emperor is a Carrier Starship; even the Hades, a dreadnought, is a fused and exalted version of the interstellar battleship and of certain other interstellar ship types.
But of this one, the name alone gave no information whatever.
Yet the account of her made the hair stand on end.
The Gluttonous Demon King Starship's ordinary armament is very simple: it amounts to a wildly reworked T5 Holy-Redeemer-class Heavy Interstellar Armored Heavy-Artillery Battleship.
Judging by that alone, this ship could hardly be called a flagship model at all.
But her other combat ability was terrible indeed.
【Gluttonous Demon King mode: at the position where the hull stands, a folded space is established, within which the Gluttonous Demon King conceals herself.
And at the original place, a black hole will be built…】
